How to approach women in the club?
The woman's club movement was a social movement that took place throughout the United States that established the idea that women had a moral duty and responsibility to transform public policy. While women's organizations had always been a part of United States history, it was not until the Progressive era that it came to be considered a "movement. These clubs, most of which had started out as social and literary gatherings, eventually became a source of reform for various issues in the U. Both African-American and white women's clubs were involved with issues surrounding education, temperance , child labor , juvenile justice , legal reform, environmental protection, library creation and more. Later, women's clubs tackled issues like women's suffrage , lynching and family planning.
Cherokee County, Texas saw the creation of its first public library with the founding of the Bachelor Girl's Literary Club. Women's clubs were involved in tracking and investigating child labor and working conditions of all workers in the United States in the late nineteenth century.
Some women's clubs became active in labor strikes. The Woman's City Club of Chicago became involved in strike resolution.
Women's clubs helped establish juvenile courts. The first juvenile court was established in Chicago in through the urging of the Chicago Woman's Club whose members felt that children should not be treated as adults by the court. Juvenile law in Chicago also recognized children who were without legal guardians and who should be dependent on the state. John Dickinson Sherman, who wrote in of the establishment of the juvenile courts, "If the whole club movement of the six states in the last ten years had accomplished nothing else it would still be well worth while.
Women's clubs helped work towards marriage reforms which would benefit women. An act passed on March 2,called the Expatriation Actrequired that when a woman married, she took on the citizenship of her husband.
Women's clubs also looked at issues of consent. The Chicago Woman's Club, which created the Protective Agency for Women and Children, presented bills to the legislature which later passed. One raised the age of consent from fourteen to eighteen.

Women's clubs were also interested in reforming fashion. Some reform centered around corsets and how tight clothing was starting to be considered unhealthy.
Besides reform, women's clubs also used fashion as a way to showcase creative arts. Fashion shows put on by the CNDA in the s and s featured recitals of music and dance, which were held at the Savoy Ballroom. Women's clubs became very active in women's suffrage. Before women had the right to vote, women's clubs needed to partner with sympathetic organizations run by men. InKate Newell Doggetta botanisthelped set up a chapter of Sorosiswhich became the first women's group in Chicago to focus on suffrage.
Other organizations, dedicated especially to suffrage began to be formed after the Civil War. African-American women's clubs like the NACW not only fought for women's suffrage, but also for the right of black men to vote.
Women's clubs hosted talks about suffrage and invited suffrage leaders to speak. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. See also: Public libraries in North America. See also: Dress reform. See also: Women's suffrage in the United States. Main article: Temperance movement in the United States.

March Ruidoso News. Archived from the original on February 14, Although you are only allowed to carry 14 clubs on any official tournament, even a 16 club golf set means you can pick the right tool for the occasion. Now you only need to remember to bring your golf balls. It is also important to keep in mind that the number of irons in your set can vary greatly, depending on your skill and the golf course you intend to play. While a pure iron set can help you cover the distance between yards 9-iron and yards 5-iron as a typical female golfer, they are often not easy to play.
Are you mostly going to carry them, use a pushcart or even a full-sized golf cart? Depending on your physical capabilities check that your golf set. The primary reason was that there were very few female golfers. All that changed with the rising number of female golfers taking up the sport in the last few decades.
But thankfully, that has changed in recent years for lady golfers. No hard and fast rules exist to determine which golf club someone can use except for overall size for tournament golf clubs. Many of the best female golfers on the Pro circuit use regular golf equipment. A great example of this is Michelle Wie. Besides that, since she is a gifted women golfer blessed with high swing speed, she can prosper with a stiff flex instead of the softer ladies flex.
These include. Some ladies might need a regular club with L grade shafts, while others need shorter shafts with regular or even stiffer grade flex.
For this precise reason, it is helpful to either try out multiple lady clubs in combination with different golf balls to see which work best for you or to get your clubs fitted by a professional club fitter. Woods are used when you want to make long shots off the tee and on the fairway.
They include the driver also called the 1-wood and fairway woods usually ranging from 3 to 9. While the best driver often gets the most attention in the media, the fairway woods will help you tremendously on longer courses. Previously, the best large club heads were made out of wood but not anymore as modern woods are manufactured with metalheads, mostly titanium having a lightweight design to enable them to hit the ball through long distances.
Hybrids find a place between woods and irons. Especially beginners find them easier to play, as they are very versatile and forgiving. A complete golf set, such as the top ones from the Callaway strata series you find above in the review contains a hybrid. Iron clubs are used to play tee shots on shorter holes or shots taken from to yards for women away from the green as well as shots from the fairway.
Iron clubs have a much small head that is usually solid steel and hollow with a loft angle for a perfect sweep. Complete iron sets can make up most of the value in your bag, as irons are not easy to manufacture and thus can become quite pricy.
Wedges are generally used for short approach shots, pitches around the green, chips, and hitting out of a sand trap. They include the sand wedge, lob wedge, gap wedge and pitching wedge to get out of or over various obstacles on the course. The most common wedges you need are pitching wedges and sand wedges, as most quality golf courses feature sand traps, regardless of the course size.
Putters come in various shapes and sizes, and they are used to putting the ball over short distances on the green. The model displayed in the images on the right is a blade putter. This putter style is very good for intermediate players or beginners with mini-golf experience. When starting out, however, you will benefit from mallet putters, which are easier to align at address control. The most common mistake is to choose clubs that are longer than you can handle.
Wemen in clubs
This will have a ripple effect on your posture, your hit, accuracy and shot power. An irregular stance will result in you hitting the ball off-center, reduce your efficiency, and shorten your shot distance. Most clubs do not get replaced because they are in a dangerous state or have been used over an extended period as long as they are of good quality. Instead, they get replaced because your abilities have exceeded the club set and you need a new set to match your skills.
Being a tall woman has its pros and cons, especially when it comes to certain sports. When playing golf, however, it can be difficult to find the right set of clubs for your height. For taller ladies, using the wrong clubs could cause health issues such as back pain and posture problems which could be long term.
As we get older, unfortunately, our abilities and speed become affected and can decrease with age. Hybrids are made with an aerodynamic head shape which aids in a much greater distance and increased speed. If we consider the typical bag from any model covered in this review, most space is covered by the irons.
While the driver is the biggest in size, your bag may contain wedges, most commonly a pitching wedge and a putter. In the example of the strata model from Callaway, the set comes with a solid driver, multiple kinds of wood, each of them varying in size.
The faster your swing speed, the stiffer the shaft flex should be. Check your swing speed and compare the result. Remember the flexibility gives you more control and accuracy over the ball, but a stiffer shaft flex brings can transfer more power if you already have high swing speed.
You can go the whole hog and buy a full set, or you can start with just a few pieces and see how you get on.
If you do I recommend buying a great beginner set or an 8 or 10 piece set for high handicappers, in order to give you a consistent feeling of clubs from one manufacturer, instead of learning to handle a mix of clubs from different brands that are not necessarily made to fit together. In no time, you may just surprise yourself on the course and will be thriving from the benefits this top set has to offer.
Your selection of golf clubs is such an important part of your enjoyment of golf, and the right clubs can make the difference between it being a frustrating disappointment or a happy success.
